The President Speaks

Welcome to the website of the Macon Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.  We are a chapter of 150 plus members who are committed to providing relevant and exemplary public service.  It is an honor and privilege to greet you as the 28th President of this dynamic chapter.  This chapter was chartered as the Epsilon Sigma Sigma Chapter on April 26, 1958 by 12 outstanding women and we continue to work diligently within our service areas which include Bibb, Crawford, Jones, Twiggs, Monroe, and Wilkerson Counties. I am overly excited to serve this chapter during such a momentous time as the sorority celebrates its Centennial—100th Birthday.

In keeping with our National Theme “A Sisterhood Called to Serve: Transforming Lives, Impacting Communities,:  we continue to implement programs that sustain the legacy or our 22 founders and focus on our sorority’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust:  Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health and Political Awareness and Involvement.

Each year our chapter awards scholarships, participates in voter drives, Relay for Life and conducts programs to assist in the positive growth of our youth such as Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy (ages 11-14), Delta Gems (ages 14-18), and E.M.B.O.D.I. (Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence).  Our fundraising events include C.O.D.E. Red (Collective Organizations Dedicated to Excellence), a holiday dance in collaboration with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated and the Beautillion which an annual formal event where young men are introduced to cultural and scholarship opportunities with the culmination of being presented to society.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website and learn more about our chapter.  We invite your involvement in our programs as we strive to make our service areas better for everyone.
